Bronze Brazier with Demon Face Decoration
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

A bronze brazier with a demon face, 12.9 cm high: a cauldron-shaped body carried on a stand, with a goblin's face modelled on the body. The rim at the top is shaped into three curving peaks, with triangles rising from it, and there are two rings on each side of the body. Handles seem to have hung from these rings, though none survive. The lower body narrows downward into the stand; on the narrow part a goblin's face is carved large, its mouth pierced right through to the interior. Three legs carved with the faces of monsters are attached below the stand. The exterior is almost complete, but the plate inside the cauldron that held the burning charcoal is lost. It looks like an incense burner, but the draught hole pierced through the body suggests it may have served as a brazier or a stove for boiling tea.
