Gold Earrings of King Muryeong
무령왕 금귀걸이 · 武寧王 金製耳飾

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA pair of Baekje gold earrings, 8.3 cm long, from the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju. They were found near the head in the king's coffin and carry lavish ornament. Two long pendants hang from a thick ring. One ends a hollow cylindrical middle piece with a large leaf-shaped ornament of sheet gold. This ornament is plain, without pattern, but a small oval leaf is attached to front and back for variety; seen from the side it curves inward. The cylindrical middle piece has a stopper decorated with gold wire and granules, and is ringed with leaf-shaped ornaments facing each other. The other pendant links leaf-shaped ornaments to a beaded piece made of many small rings, and ends in a green comma-shaped jewel capped in gold, in harmony with the gold. Earrings with two pendants like these have also been found in Geumnyeongchong Tomb in Gyeongju.
