Gold Necklaces of the Queen Consort of King Muryeong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

The necklaces of King Muryeong's queen of Baekje, found in the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju, 14 cm and 16 cm long. There are two kinds, one of nine links and one of seven; when excavated, the seven-link necklace lay beneath the nine-link one. Hexagonal gold rods, slightly bowed, are tapered at the ends and made into rings to join the next. The end left over after making the ring is wound ten or eleven times on the short necklace and six to eight times on the long one so that it will not come undone. The workmanship with which each evenly spaced rod is ringed and finished is outstanding. Both necklaces are of simple construction, with only a small ring at one end for fastening and no other ornament. They look very refined, with a modern feel.
