Silver Bracelets of the Queen Consort of King Muryeong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

A pair of silver bracelets found near the left arm inside the wooden coffin of the queen in the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju, 8 cm across outside, the band 1.1 cm thick. The inside, against the wrist, is closely notched like a saw, and the rounded outside is carved with two three-clawed dragons. The dragons wrapping round the bracelet are not finely carved but are full of vigour. According to the inscription inside one bracelet, it was made six years before the queen died, and it records the maker's name and the weight, which gives it high value. With its powerful dragons and its record of date, maker and weight, it is the only such bracelet of the Three Kingdoms period and a precious source for the study of ancient metalwork.
