Celadon Ewer in the Shape of a Human Figure
청자 인물형 주전자 · 靑磁 人物形 注子

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA sculptural Goryeo celadon, a ewer 28.0 cm high and 11.6 cm across the base. Sculptural celadons take the form of things as they are; this ewer is a figure in a cap and robe holding a dish with a peach on it. A hole in the front of the cap is for filling, and another in front of the peach is for pouring. A handle is attached at the figure's back, with a small ring at its top. The cap is decorated with a bird, and white dots on the cap, collar, robe ties and peach add to the effect. A clear, glossy pale green celadon glaze covers it thickly all over. Found in 1971 in an orchard on the outskirts of Daegu and designated as heritage, it is one of the sculptural celadons of the early thirteenth century whose findspot is certain.
