A Joseon lidded white porcelain jar, 16.8 cm high, 6.1 cm across the mouth and 8.8 cm across the base. The knob of the lid is a lotus bud, the shoulder is broad, and the line of the narrow waist seems to lift slightly from the base. The outer edge of the foot's resting surface is pared at a slight slant. Four petals are painted on the knob, with plum and bamboo around it, in a way that resembles the treatment of branches in early Joseon painting. A winding scroll runs round the rim; one side of the body has plum with a pair of birds perched on it and wild chrysanthemum, the other bamboo spreading in a V. The variation of ink tone in the painting suggests a professional painter. The jar is said to have come from an early Joseon tomb, and it is important for the study of the form and decoration of white porcelain jars of the period.
