Excavated during construction work at Goa-myeon, Seonsan, North Gyeongsang, together with the gilt-bronze standing Buddha from Seonsan-eup, Gumi (a national treasure) and the other gilt-bronze standing bodhisattva from Seonsan-eup, Gumi (a national treasure). Many roof-tile and pottery fragments of the Three Kingdoms period have been found in the area, so it is thought to have been a temple site. The bodhisattva stands on a lotus-carved pedestal, right knee slightly bent, in a natural, supple pose. It wears a flower-decorated crown with a small Buddha on the front. The roundish face, with clearly rendered features, smiles all over. The body is fairly slender and well balanced, and the robe clings thinly to it. The scarf passes once over the right arm, hangs in a curve before the knees, passes over the left arm and falls to the pedestal. A necklace hangs at the throat, and strings of jewels from the shoulders fall long in an X. The folds and X-shaped jewels are rendered on the back as well. The right hand is raised, lightly holding a lotus bud; the left is lowered as though holding something, now lost. The pedestal is heptagonal, carved with downturned lotus petals. The upper left of the crown, the scarf ends hanging below both hands and part of the left hand's fingers are broken, and the mandorla is lost. There is rust on the face and right hand, but the gilding is fairly good. Outstanding in balance and carving, it shows the typical style of late Three Kingdoms gilt-bronze bodhisattvas and is thought to have been made in the mid-seventh century.
