Gold Crown from Cheonmachong Tomb
천마총 금관 · 天馬塚 金冠

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA Silla gold crown found in Cheonmachong Tomb. Cheonmachong Tomb was known as Gyeongju tomb no. 155 until its excavation in 1973 found, with a gold crown, bracelets and many other objects, the painting of a heavenly horse (cheonma) that gave it its name. This crown, 32.5 cm high, is a typical Silla crown, found still worn by the person buried. On the front of the broad headband stand three uprights shaped like the character 山, and at the back two shaped like antlers. The 山 uprights rise in four tiers, all ending in flower buds. The whole crown is decorated with round gold discs and comma-shaped jewels, with twisted gold wire hung from it and gold ornaments closely linked. Two pendants of leaf-shaped ornaments hang below. The inner cap worn under the crown and the other things needed to wear it were all found outside the coffin with the other grave goods.
