This sutra was copied by hand in silver on dark blue paper and made to be kept rolled as a scroll. It is volume 13 of thirty, 30.4 cm high and 905 cm long, and was recovered after being taken to Japan. At the end of the title is the character mo from the Thousand Character Classic, showing that the thousand-character case system — numbering books in the order of the Thousand Character Classic — was used, and that it was part of a Tripitaka. At the head a guardian deity of the Dharma is drawn in fine gold line, followed by the text in silver. The colophon records that it was made in 1275, the first year of King Chungnyeol of Goryeo, under the king's direction, and written out by the Great Master Anche. Several such sutras made for Goryeo kings survive, and this one is notable as the earliest. It is highly valued too for having both its guardian deity and its record of making, and its fine painting and devoted calligraphy raise its quality further.
