KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

A treatise by the Indian bodhisattva Asanga, translated by Xuanzang of Tang in twenty volumes arranged in the order of the Thousand Character Classic; this is a copy from the first carving of the Tripitaka Koreana. The Xianyang shengjiao lun, also called the Xianyang lun or Guangbu zhongyi lun, is one of the treatises of the Beopsang (Yogacara) school, written to bring out the key contents of the Yogacarabhumi Sastra. Volume 11, from the case marked with the character cheok, is the surviving volume, 46.5 cm wide and 28.6 cm high, on mulberry paper. This first carving was cut and printed in the eleventh century, and it differs from the later recarving in its format and printing records. In block-cutting it is considerably finer than the recarved edition.
