In front of the site of the main hall at Dansoksa Temple, two pagodas stand to the east and west; this is the one raised to the west. It has three storeys of body stone set on a two-tiered base, the typical form of a Unified Silla pagoda, but compared with the east pagoda it has suffered much more damage, including the theft of the reliquary once enshrined within it. At the corners of each face of the base, pillar-shaped carvings are set; the lower tier has two such carved pillars in the middle of each face, the upper tier one. The eaves of the roof stones on the body of the pagoda are cut in straight lines, and their gently sloping upper surfaces are lifted slightly skyward at each of the four corners. The light, crisp treatment of the roof stones, together with the way the pagoda's proportions diminish evenly toward the top, show that it continues the typical style of Unified Silla stone pagodas. Given that the lower base has widened and that the number of central pillar-carvings on each face has fallen to two on the lower tier and one on the upper, this work can be said to show clearly the style of the late Unified Silla period.
