청도 운문사 금당 앞 석등 · 淸道 雲門寺 金堂 앞 石燈

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is an octagonal stone lantern standing in front of the Geumdang Hall of Unmunsa Temple. Centred on the firebox stone that holds the light, it has a pedestal made up of three parts below, and a roof stone and finial above. The base stone, formed as one piece with the ground stone, is carved with an eight-petalled lotus pattern. The central pillar above it is left entirely plain, while the upper base stone is carved with lotus flowers on each face. The firebox stone has four windows cut into it so that the light can spread outward. The roof stone has a light, buoyant form, and at the top a boju, a jewel-shaped ornament resembling a lotus bud, survives. It is an elegant Unified Silla-period stone lantern in which every part is well balanced.
