Gold Crown from Geumnyeongchong Tomb
금령총 금관 · 金鈴塚 金冠

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe gold crown from Geumnyeongchong Tomb is the smallest and simplest in form among the gold crowns discovered to date, standing 27 cm high with a diameter of 15 cm. At the centre front and on either side, tree-shaped ornaments in the form of the character 山 are linked in four tiers, each branch ending in a flower-bud shape. Two antler-shaped branches are attached on either side of these 山-shaped uprights. The same ornamentation is applied to the crown's rim and all five branches: the surface is stamped with two rows of dot patterns, above and below, with leaf-shaped discs hung between them as decoration. Earring-shaped pendants hang from either side of the crown's rim. A distinctive feature of this crown is that, unlike other gold crowns, it has no jade ornaments and is made entirely of gold.
