Samguk yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms), Volumes
삼국유사 권3~5 · 三國遺事 卷三~五

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe treasure Samguk yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms), Volumes 3–5 binds Volumes 3 to 5 of the Samguk yusa into a single book. A total of 23 leaves are missing: the first 10 leaves of Volume 3, and, from the back of leaf 18 of Volume 5 through to leaf 31 (the colophon). The cover has been rebound, stitched with red thread in the five-hole binding style; the book was formerly in the collection of the late Choi Nam-seon (pen name Yukdang) and was later donated to Korea University. This book was printed from woodblocks carved in Gyeongju in 1512, the seventh year of King Jungjong of Joseon — the edition most widely used by scholars today. Among the surviving copies of the Jeongdeok edition of Samguk yusa in Korea, it is, along with the Gyujanggak copy, one of the relatively early printings, and it bears the bibliographic characteristics and value of the Jungjong-imsin edition. In particular, it is the only Jeongdeok-edition copy annotated with gugyeol reading marks — marks added to Chinese-language text to aid reading in Korean — which helps interpretation of the text.
