Three-story Stone Pagoda of Maneosa Temple, Miryang
밀양 만어사 삼층석탑 · 密陽 萬魚寺 三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda stands apart from the present location of the temple, but behind it is a wide, level plot that appears to be the site of a building, believed to be the site of the original main hall. It is therefore presumed that the pagoda still stands on its original site. It is a three-story stone pagoda set on a single-tier base, with the body stone and roof stone of each story each carved from a single block. Pillar shapes are carved at the corners of the body stones, and the underside of each roof stone has three tiers of support blocks. The finial bears a boju (a lotus-bud-shaped ornament), though this appears to be a later addition. The base stone is currently exposed and the roof stones show slight damage, but overall the pagoda has a stable, well-ordered appearance and is an outstanding work. Although some signs of decline in style can be seen in places, the structure and technique of each part suggest that it was made in the mid-Goryeo period.
