Ojakbi Monument with Inscription of "Musul Year," Daegu
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This monument was first discovered in 1946 in Daean-dong, Daegu, but its whereabouts were then unknown for seven or eight years before it was rediscovered near Gyeongbuk National University. The stele is an elongated natural stone, cut straight across the bottom while the top is rounded. Judging from the shape of its lower portion, it is thought to have originally stood atop a base stone or been set into a rock surface. The inscription records the date of the monument's erection, details of the construction of a reservoir, and the people involved. A considerable number of characters have been worn away, making interpretation difficult, but the stele remains an important source for the study of Silla-period irrigation facilities and social history.
