Manuscripts of Yi Eon-jeok - Sok Daehak Hokmun (Continued Questions on the Greater Learning) is one of the works written in his own hand by Hoejae Yi Eon-jeok (1491–1553), a Confucian scholar and statesman of the reign of King Jungjong of Joseon, composed between 1547 and 1553, the second to eighth years of King Myeongjong. Yi Eon-jeok was a scholar of Neo-Confucianism in the mid-Joseon period who passed the state civil service examination at the age of 24 and entered government service. He was exiled after opposing the appointment of Kim An-no, and returned to politics once Kim An-no's faction fell from power; he later governed so well that a monument praising his virtue was erected for him. In 1547 he was implicated in the fabricated Yangjaeyeok Wall-writing Incident and forcibly exiled, where he wrote many books before dying at the age of 63. A pioneering figure in the establishment of Neo-Confucianism in the Joseon period, he was posthumously appointed Chief State Councillor, with the posthumous title Munwon. This work adds entries on topics not addressed in the Daehak hokmun (Questions on the Greater Learning) by Zhu Xi of Song-dynasty China. The book was lectured on at the royal lecture during the reign of King Jeongjo, who wrote out in his own hand a preface titled "Jeseonjeonghoejae sokdaehakhokmun gwonsu" and sent it down.
