문무잡과 방목 · 文武雜科 榜目

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krMunmujapgwa bangmok is the roster of successful candidates in the munmujapgwa examination held in 1513, the eighth year of King Jungjong. It has been handed down through the family of Sim Eon-gwang, an ancestor of the present owner, to whom it was originally granted. The Jeongdeok Gyeyu Samabangmok, the roster of successful candidates in the higher licentiate examination held the same year, is held at Oksanseowon Confucian Academy in Wolseong; it was designated as a treasure earlier, under the title "Yeoju Yi Clan Oksan Lineage Documents – Samabangmok" (30 December 1970). The roster comprises 37 leaves in total, each measuring 17.5 cm in width and 30 cm in height. Although many bangmok survive from the late Joseon period, this is a rare example from the early Joseon period; moreover, Munmujapgwa bangmok, being a combined roster covering three examinations, is the oldest of its kind and a valuable source for the study of leading figures of the Joseon period. It was printed using type cast in the gapin year of King Sejong's reign, known as gapinja, making it also a valuable resource for the study of the history of printing.
