The Earthenware Horn Cup with Wagon Wheel Decoration is a Gaya-period earthenware vessel fitted with wagon wheels, 18.5 cm high and 24 cm long; its findspot is unknown. The stand takes the flared, trumpet-shaped form with a widening base commonly seen on Gaya high-footed dishes, and is pierced with four long rectangular openings. On top of the stand sits a U-shaped horn cup, on the back of which fern-frond-shaped ornaments were attached on both sides, though one has since been lost; the fern-frond ornament has an unusual form, made by rolling thin strips of clay on each side. This U-shaped horn cup appears to have served as a vessel for holding liquid. Wagon wheels are attached to either side of the horn cup; each round wheel is pierced around its axle with six diamond-shaped openings representing the spokes. The grey-black clay body has a colour resembling rusted iron, and, like the duck-, human-, horse- and boat-shaped vessels that display the typical features of Gaya pottery, it takes a simple yet fantastical form.
