Worin seokbo (Episodes from the Life of Sakyamuni Buddha), Volumes 9 and 10
월인석보 권9, 10 · 月印釋譜 卷九, 十

Worin seokbo is a Buddhist canon compiled in 1459, the fifth year of King Sejo, by combining Worin cheongangjigok and Seokbo sangjeol. Seokbo means a chronicle of Sakyamuni Buddha, that is, an account of his life. When Queen Soheon, of the Sim clan, died in 1446, the twenty-eighth year of King Sejong, King Sejong ordered his son Grand Prince Suyang (later King Sejo) to compile a Buddhist text in Hangeul, drawing on Buddhist scriptures, to pray for her soul's repose; this became Seokbo sangjeol. In 1447, the twenty-ninth year of King Sejong, King Sejong read Seokbo sangjeol and composed a hymn of praise for each two-line passage; these became Worin cheongangjigok. As a complete set of Worin seokbo does not survive today, the full number of volumes cannot be confirmed. Worin seokbo, Volumes 9 and 10, was first printed during the reign of King Sejo, and comprises two volumes bound as two separate books. The books measure roughly 22.5 cm in width and 30 cm in height. In Volume 9, the first three leaves are missing, and leaves 35 and 36 are each divided into upper, middle and lower sections; other partially damaged portions have been supplemented by hand-copied text. Volume 10 runs from the first leaf to leaf 122, but since the text does not conclude properly, several leaves appear to have been lost. Volume 9 contains cantos 251 to 260 of Worin cheongangjigok, and Volume 10 contains cantos 261 to 271.
