Worin seokbo (Episodes from the Life of Sakyamuni Buddha), Volume 20

Worin seokbo is estimated to have consisted of 25 volumes in total; with the new designation of this Volume 20, 18 volumes are now confirmed to survive. Together with Seokbo sangjeol, this book is closely bound up with the creation of Hangeul, and, as Korea's first hymn of praise to the Buddha and a vernacular translation of the Buddhist canon, it is a precious resource for research into early Joseon Buddhist scripture and the Korean script. This volume holds particular significance as the only copy without a known duplicate among the 25 volumes of Worin seokbo discovered to date.
