청자 쌍사자형 베개 · 靑磁 雙獅子形 枕

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Celadon Pillow in the Shape of Twin Lions is a celadon pillow made in the mid-Goryeo period, 10.5 cm in height, 21.8 cm in length and 8.2 cm in width. On a rectangular plate with rounded corners, two lions stand with their tails touching, supporting the pillow's top plate with their heads. The lions appear to represent a male and a female, and their eyes are rendered vividly with dots of black pigment. The pillow's top plate is shaped like a lotus leaf, its veins incised sharply. The surface has a clear, translucent jade-green lustre and a smooth, subtle tone. It is thought to have been made in the first half of the twelfth century at a kiln in the Sadang-ri area of Daegu-myeon, Gangjin-gun, South Jeolla Province.
