Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis celadon bottle, made in the Goryeo period, is a refined wine bottle measuring 29.0 cm in height, 5.9 cm in mouth diameter and 9.5 cm in base diameter. The rim is thin and flares widely outward, and the neck is long. The shoulder forms a gentle curve, the lower body is convex, and the foot is somewhat high and wide, giving the piece an overall sense of stability. The glaze contains fine bubbles, is thin and transparent, and has a pale greenish-blue tint. Below the rim, a vine-scroll design has been carved using the half-relief (banyanggak) technique, in which the background around the pattern is cut away broadly to produce a raised effect. The upper shoulder is incised with linear bands, and a floral design below it is likewise decorated in half relief. Small cloud designs are incised sparsely across the body, and a band of lotus design encircles its lower part.
