This Goryeo celadon bowl was made around the 11th century and measures 5.9 cm in height, with a mouth diameter of 17.5 cm and a foot diameter of 4.8 cm. It has a low foot with a wide surface touching the ground, known as a "sun-halo foot" (haemuri gup). Sun-halo foot bowls are usually plain, making this a rare example bearing a design. The rim flares outward, and while the exterior of the bowl is undecorated, a band encircles the interior just below the rim, and the sides are carved with a chrysanthemum scroll design. The glaze is a bright, transparent pale-green celadon glaze, with fine crackling covering the entire surface. This celadon bowl represents a step beyond plain, undecorated bowls, introducing an early stylistic development, and is a very important artefact that sheds light on the early history of Goryeo celadon.
