This is a Korean translation of the poems of the Tang-dynasty poet Du Fu (712–770). During the reign of King Seongjong, Yu Yun-gyeom, an official of the Hongmungwan (Royal Library), and others were commanded by the king to review the various commentaries (jeju) on the poems and render them into Hangeul. The alternative title Dugongbusi ("Poems of the Vice Minister of Works") derives from Du Fu's official post as Vice Minister of Works. The classification (bullyu) follows the Song-dynasty Punmun jipju dugongbosi (Classified and Annotated Poems of Du Fu), whose title was adopted for the header of this edition. Taking the Yuan-dynasty compilation Chanju bullyu dusi as its base text, the book contains all 1,647 of Du Fu's poems together with 16 poems by other writers, each annotated and translated into Hangeul; it is commonly known as the Dusi eonhae (Korean Translation of Du Fu's Poems). The first edition of this book was printed in the 12th year of King Seongjong (1481) using Eulhae-type movable type together with a matching Hangeul type. The title given at the head of the volume is "Poems by Du Fu, Korean Translation, Volume 21", with no separate indication of authorship. The page layout has a single-line border on all four sides, and each half-leaf generally carries eight lines of seventeen characters, combining smaller Chinese characters with Hangeul type; the running title "Dusi" and the leaf number are carved in the central fold. Diacritic dots beside the Hangeul survive, reflecting the state of the Korean language before the Japanese invasions of 1592. The volume runs to 45 leaves in all and is in generally good condition, although the front and back covers have both been rebound.
