The Daebanggwang wongak sudara youi-gyeong is also known by the short forms Daebanggwang wongak-gyeong or Wongak-gyeong — the Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment. Its excellent doctrine and account of practice led it to be widely circulated as a guide to Buddhist cultivation. In Korea it was deeply revered by Jinul of Goryeo, who called it the "youi-gyeong" ("sutra of consummate meaning"), after which it became widely read under this name. This book is an annotated edition of the Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment, which had originally been translated into Chinese by Buddhatrāta of the Tang dynasty, with a commentary added in accessible language by Zongmi, also of the Tang dynasty. At the beginning of the book is a preface written by Pei Xiu of the Tang dynasty. It is a woodblock print on mulberry paper; the sheets, originally joined end to end, were later cut and refashioned into the form of a bound book, and it measures 34.3 cm in height and 19.7 cm in width. It was recarved in the Goryeo period from a Song-dynasty edition, and, judging from the condition of the printing, it appears to be not a first printing but a later reprint.
