Gwon Geun's Eungjesiju consists of a single volume. The text bears some scattered staining, but the printing is in very good condition. On the right side of the front cover is written 'Eungjesi' (Poems Written by Royal Command), and in the centre left is written 'Yangchon-jip' (Collected Writings of Yangchon), while a collector's seal reading 'Dangujang' is inscribed on the spine. This book brings together the three poems that Emperor Taizu of Ming personally composed and bestowed on Gwon Geun (pen name Yangchon, 1352-1409), together with twenty-four poems that Gwon Geun composed at the Ming emperor's command. Gwon Ram added annotations to these, and the book was printed from woodblocks in 1462, the eighth year of King Sejo. At the front of the book is a preface to the original edition of the Yangchon eungjesi, written in April 1402, the second year of King Taejong, by Yi Cheom, who held the post of Jikjehak (Second Counsellor) of the Yemungwan. This is followed by the three poems bestowed by Emperor Taizu of Ming, comprising three regulated verses titled 'Inscribed on the Amnokgang (Yalu River)', 'The Old Capital of Goryeo', and 'Journeying through Liaodong as an Envoy'. Next come a poem written in response to royal command by the Ming Seon master Wonam; a record by Gwon Ram; Gwon Ram's expanded annotations to the twenty-four poems that Gwon Geun composed and presented in the ninth and tenth months of 1396, the fifth year of King Taejo; an account written by Gwon Geun after his return to Korea in the sixth year of King Taejo recounting the course of events; a colophon on the Yangchon eungjesi by the Ming official Danmok Hyosa and others, written in the second year of King Taejong; a colophon on the reprinted edition of the Yangchon eungjesi written in March 1438, the twentieth year of King Sejong, by Gwon Chae, Gwon Geun's nephew and Right Deputy Royal Secretary of the Seungjeongwon; a colophon on the Yangchon eungjesi by the Ming official Jingam and others, written in the sixth month of the third year of King Sejo; the 'Record of Conduct of Lord Chungmun of Yangchon', compiled by his grandson Gwon Ram; and a colophon by Gwon Ram recording the printing of this book in October 1462, the eighth year of King Sejo, together with the names of An Hye, Jang Baek-sun, Yun Yeong-hwa, and others who took part in the printing. This copy, handed down through the generations in the household of the Jinyang Ha clan, is a superior edition, being far more finely printed and in better condition than other extant copies of the same Yangchon eungjesi.
