Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis single-volume book has some staining in parts of the text, but its printing condition is very good. On the right of the cover is written "應製詩" (Eungjesi); in the centre of the left side, "陽村集" (Yangchonjip); and on the right-hand spine, "丹丘藏" (Dan-gujang). The book brings together three poems that Emperor Taizu of Ming personally composed and bestowed on Gwon Geun (pen name Yangchon, 1352–1409) — known as "Taejo gohwangje eoje si samsu" — together with twenty-four eungjesi (poems written at royal command) that Gwon Geun composed at the Ming emperor's order. Gwon Ram added annotations, and the whole was published as a woodblock edition in 1462, the eighth year of King Sejo. At the head of the volume is a preface to the first edition of Yangchon eungjesi written in April 1402, the second year of King Taejong, by Yi Cheom, Vice Director of the Office of Special Advisors. This is followed by the three regulated verses that make up "Taejo gohwangje eoje si samsu" — "Je Amnokgang," "Goryeo gogyeong," and "Sagyeong yojwa" — bestowed by the Ming emperor on Gwon Geun. Next come an eungjesi by the Ming monk Wonam Seonsa; a record by Gwon Ram; Gwon Ram's expanded annotations on the twenty-four eungjesi that Gwon Geun composed and presented in the ninth and tenth months of 1396, the fifth year of King Taejo; an account written by Gwon Geun on his return to Korea in the sixth year of King Taejo describing what had taken place; colophons on Yangchon eungjesi by the Ming envoy Danmok Hyosa and others, written in the second year of King Taejong; a colophon on the reprinted edition of Yangchon eungjesi written in March 1438, the twentieth year of King Sejong, by Gwon Geun's nephew Gwon Chae, Second Deputy Director of the Royal Secretariat; colophons on Yangchon eungjesi by the Ming envoy Jin Gam and others, from the sixth month of the third year of King Sejo; the "Record of Conduct of Lord Chungmun, Master Yangchon" compiled by his grandson Gwon Ram; and a colophon by Gwon Ram, dated October 1462, the eighth year of King Sejo, recording the book's publication, together with the names of An Hye, Jang Baek-sun, Yun Yeong-hwa and others who took part in producing it. Handed down through the generations of the Jinyang Ha clan, this copy is a fine edition, its printing far more refined and its condition better preserved than other surviving copies of the same Yangchon eungjesi.
