법집별행록절요병입사기(1993) · 法集別行錄節要幷入私記(1993)

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a manual of practice compiled by State Preceptor Bojo Jinul (1158-1210) of Goryeo for practitioners, and it is one of the essential texts of Buddhist study. It condenses the Dharma Collection and Special Practice Record written by the Tang-dynasty monk Zongmi, and, drawing on citations from various texts, sets out the path of the true practitioner on the basis of Jinul's Seon (Zen) thought. It was printed in 1486, the seventeenth year of King Seongjong of Joseon, as a woodblock edition on mulberry paper, measuring 25.7 cm in height and 16.3 cm in width. It is rare among the writings of Korea's eminent monks in having been printed on many occasions; twenty-two editions survive today, of which this appears to be the oldest. As the work in which State Preceptor Bojo Jinul's Seon thought is most fully gathered, it is Korea's oldest philosophical text, and its value as a crystallisation of Buddhist theory and practice is very highly regarded.
