진충귀 고신왕지 · 陳忠貴 告身王旨

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a royal edict of appointment (wangji) issued in 1394, the third year of King Taejo, appointing Jin Chung-gwi magistrate of Uiju. Jin Chung-gwi was sent to Yanggwang-do as a military commissioner in 1393, the second year of King Taejo; dispatched to the Ming capital in 1396, the fifth year of King Taejo; and returned from the capital together with Yang Cheon-sik and others in 1397, the sixth year of King Taejo. He died in 1412, the twelfth year of King Taejong. These facts are recorded only briefly in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, and no record of Jin Chung-gwi can be found in any other historical text. This wangji is valuable material for studying the figures who were active at the founding of Joseon, and together with the wangji held by the Do clan of Seongju, it is regarded as a precious source.
