This album compiles letters sent to An Cheo-sun (1492–1534) by friends and colleagues around the time of the Gimyo Sahwa, a political purge of 1519, most of them written by figures implicated in that purge. An Cheo-sun was a ninth-generation descendant of An Hyang, who first introduced Neo-Confucianism to Korea during the Goryeo period, and he held posts including censor of the Yemungwan, scholar of the Hongmungwan, and magistrate of Gurye. This album of letters gathers thirty-nine letters that An Cheo-sun received during his lifetime from twelve of his colleagues over the fifteen years from the twelfth year of King Jungjong (1517) to the twenty-sixth year of King Jungjong (1531), and runs from page 3 to page 72. At the head of the album is a preface by Han Jun-gyeom, and at the end is a postscript by Jo Seong-gyo, a descendant of Jo Gwang-jo, recording his feelings on reading the album and the circumstances of its compilation. It brings together the writings and calligraphy of eminent scholars connected with the Gimyo Sahwa, making it an invaluable resource not only for the study of early Joseon calligraphy and painting but also for research into the Gimyo Sahwa itself.
