Published in the early Joseon period (15th century), this medical text brings together in one book the "Thirteen Prescriptions with Additions and Subtractions for Everyday Use, Secretly Transmitted by Physicians" and the "Tried and Tested Emergency Prescriptions," both drawn from the secret medical prescriptions verified and compiled by Seop Yun-hyeon, deputy magistrate of Imgang in Ming China. It contains prescriptions and the medicinal ingredients used for thirteen conditions such as colds, influenza and stomach ache, together with an appendix on making a pillow for health and longevity. The second volume gathers emergency prescriptions and medicine formulas for thirty-seven conditions, ranging from the treatment of cholera-like vomiting and diarrhoea to persistent diarrhoea that will not stop. As there is no publication record, the exact date cannot be determined, but the condition of the woodblock carving, the format of the plates, the calligraphic style and the quality of the paper indicate that it was printed in the 15th century. It is a valuable resource for research into the history of Korean medicine and printing, and a rare medical text not otherwise found in Korea.
