An atlas containing maps of counties throughout the country, compiled in the late Joseon period. The first and second volumes form the atlas proper, while the third volume consists of geographical gazetteers of each locality; the atlas is presumed to have been produced between 1800 and 1804. The map of each locality is drawn on a grid with squares of 20 ri, and for some localities, such as Andong and Chungju, up to eight localities are shown together on a single page. At the front of each province's section is a 'Paldo bunpyo' (table of the eight provinces), allowing the location of each county within the province to be identified. This atlas is of great scholarly value in that it re-edited an earlier 20-ri grid atlas to make it easier to use in practice, illustrating the developmental process of Korean cartography. It has also drawn attention for showing how grid-based county maps served as an intermediate stage leading to large-scale maps of Korea such as Kim Jeong-ho's Cheonggudo. While individual volumes are held separately by other institutions, the copy in the National Library of Korea is valuable as a complete set.
