This is a China-centred map of the world produced in the late Joseon period. It is judged either to have used the same original map as, or to belong to the same lineage as, the enlarged, redrawn copy of Wang Pan's Yeojido (Map of the World) held within the Honil Gangnido group of maps in the French National Library. The content of the map reflects the situation in the early 17th century. It holds special significance as, among East Asian maps drawn in Joseon at this time, the one that clearly establishes the existence of Hokkaido. Given that for a long time in Joseon the existence and location of Hokkaido had been unclear, causing considerable confusion, this map is of great value. Its value as a source is also very high, considering how few world maps made in the Joseon period survive in Korea today.
