"Pyoamyuchae in Semi-cursive Script by Gang Se-hwang" is an album in which Gang Se-hwang (pen name Pyoam, 1713–1791) wrote seven-character poems by the Song-dynasty scholar Yang Shi and others, in semi-cursive script, in the winter of 1790. A note at the end concerning jukcheongji, a fine paper produced in the southern regions of Korea, is a valuable record of papermaking practice in the late eighteenth century, the late Joseon period. Many albums, letters, and screens bearing Gang Se-hwang's calligraphy survive today, but examples with as clear a date and background as this album are rare. Moreover, as one of the last of his dated works — indeed his final piece of calligraphy — it displays the fully matured style distinctive to Gang Se-hwang.
