Stone Ice Storage in Yeongsan, Changnyeong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This is a mid-Joseon-period ice storage built of granite. The exact date of construction is unknown, but according to the Yeojido seo (Gazetteer with Maps) and late Joseon-period local gazetteers, it is thought to have been built by the county magistrate Yun I-il. It has an overall rounded shape, high at the entrance and lower towards the back. Inside, it is rectangular in form, built of large, roughly dressed stones. Looking out from the storage, there is a stream at the far end behind it; the stream is now dry, but this is because a dam was built upstream, and in the past it is said to have carried an abundant flow of water. It is somewhat smaller in scale than other stone ice storages, but the construction technique is the same.
