Myeongnyundang Hall of Miryang Local Confucian School
밀양향교 명륜당 · 密陽鄕校 明倫堂

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krMyeongnyundang Hall of Miryanghyanggyo is a well-preserved example of Confucian-school architecture in the Gyeongsangnam-do region. It burned down during the Imjin War and was rebuilt in 1618, and is valued as good material for understanding the character of mid-Joseon Myeongnyundang (lecture hall) architecture. It preserves well the jungdang-hyeopsil plan - a central hall flanked by side chambers - often found in large Myeongnyundang buildings, and its ikgong bracket form retains its seventeenth-century appearance. The structural reinforcement method matched to its scale is also an uncommon example among Myeongnyundang buildings in the Gyeongsangnam-do region.
