Busosanseong Fortress, Buyeo
부여 부소산성 · 扶餘 扶蘇山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Samguk Sagi calls it Sabi Fortress; everyone else names it after the hill. The double wall was raised around 538 to guard the palace when the capital moved here, though a simpler ring around the summit already existed by about 500 and the present form was finished around 605. That sequence — summit ring first, valley wall added around it — makes the site a textbook of how Baekje built fortresses. Inside are granary foundations, Baekje building platforms, two pavilions, a small temple by the water, and Nakhwaam, the cliff over the Baengma river. The name means falling flowers, for the court women said to have thrown themselves from it when the kingdom fell. Granaries and halls together suggest what it was for: a refuge in war and, the rest of the time, the garden the palace looked out on.
