Ancient Tombs in Jungbu-dong, Yangsan
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Among the many tomb groups of Yangsan-eup, these are the southernmost, standing on the hill where the Historic Site Yangsan Bukbu-dong Mountain Fortress is also located. In their arrangement, large tombs run in a line along the ridge, with small tombs clustered around them. The hill is now covered with a pine forest, and sports facilities and a walking path have been built through part of the site, in the course of which a large number of tombs were destroyed. Some pottery, including short-necked jars and lidded mounted cups, has been collected in the surrounding area. Near the sports facilities, one tomb has been destroyed, exposing part of its interior to view. Most of the tombs were looted and destroyed during the Japanese colonial period, and since no scholarly survey has been carried out, it is difficult to determine their character in detail. Judging from their ruined state, they are presumed to be tunnel-entrance stone-chamber tombs and vertical-pit stone-lined tombs built around the fifth to sixth centuries.
