This is the tomb of King Gyeongsun (r. 927–935), the fifty-sixth and last king of Silla. In 927, after King Gyeongae was assassinated during an attack by Gyeon Hwon while enjoying himself at Poseokjeong Pavilion, King Gyeongsun was placed on the throne by Gyeon Hwon. As the people suffered greatly from war, he overrode the objections of his officials and, in 935, peacefully surrendered Silla to Goryeo and stepped down from the throne, becoming the last king of Silla. The tomb is a round earthen mound about 3 m high and 7 m in diameter, with a border of stone slabs set around its base. It is enclosed by a gokjang, a low curved wall that began to appear around Goryeo royal tombs, showing that the Goryeo royal house built the tomb with the honours due a king. It is the only Silla royal tomb located outside the Gyeongju region, standing instead in Gyeonggi Province. (Renamed from Silla Gyeongsunwangneung to Tomb of King Gyeongsun, Yeoncheon, notified on 28 July 2011.)
