West Building of Choong Ang High School, Seoul
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This two-storey red brick building was completed in 1921 and built to the right of the old main building that had burned down in 1934, forming a pair with the East Building. Neither its designer nor its builder is known. With its pointed arch window frames, steep Gothic-style roof, and the fine interlocking masonry of granite and red brick, it stands as a monument to early twentieth-century Korean architecture. It is also the place where, after the March First Movement, the Joseon Boy Scouts were founded, and where the June 10th Independence Movement and the Gwangju Student Movement began.
