This site was discovered during investigation ahead of the construction of a new building for Yonghwang Elementary School, in the area of Hwangseong-dong and Yonggang-dong, north of Bukcheon Stream in Gyeongju. A pond site (840 pyeong, about 2,780 m²) and a row of stone revetments lining its banks were found, along with two artificially made islands, two former building sites, a bridge structure, and structures presumed to be a road and drainage facility. It is an important site, believed to be the remains of a Unified Silla-period garden.
