The Former Daegu Provincial Hospital (now the main building of Kyungpook National University Hospital) is a two-storey brick building erected in 1928 during the Japanese colonial period as the Daegu Provincial Clinic. This building stands facing the Main Building of the Former Daegu College of Medicine, a historic site now serving as the main building of Kyungpook National University College of Medicine. The building faces north and extends lengthwise from east to west, and its roof is a hipped roof covered with tiles. The plan is shaped like the Korean consonant ㄱ, with rooms arranged facing south and north on either side of a double-loaded corridor, while in the wing on the right of the front facade a single-loaded corridor was installed with rooms facing east. The building is symmetrical about the entrance porch at the centre of the front facade, and the window lintels and eaves are decorated with horizontal granite cornices, giving it a Renaissance atmosphere. Distinctive features of the exterior include a square-roofed turret, tall semicircular arched windows, pediments, dormer windows in the roof, a dentil-patterned decoration on the parapet wall, and horizontal cornices of dressed granite; these elements are actively employed to emphasise frontality and symmetry. It is a building that well illustrates the characteristics of modern hospital architecture in Korea. Although the right-hand wing has been demolished and an extension has been added to the left of the front facade, the building's original form is well preserved overall, giving it great historical and architectural value.
