Managed as a historic relic during the Japanese colonial period, the tomb was collectively designated a historic site in 1963, and in 2011 it was separated from the Tomb of King Munseong and redesignated. King Jinji was the second son of King Jinheung; his queen was Lady Jido, and King Muyeol was his grandson. He appointed Geochilbu as sangdaedeung (chief minister) and, carrying out King Jinheung's wishes, built Naerieoseong Fortress and repelled the Baekje army. He also sent envoys to the Chinese state of Chen to establish diplomatic relations. Part of a large stone believed to be a retaining stone (hoseok) is exposed on the mound of the Tomb of King Jinji, and grass has been planted on the mound and around it to prevent soil erosion. A stone marker and a heritage information board stand in front of the mound, and a stone embankment 32 m long has been built to its southeast. The surrounding area is enclosed by pine trees.
