Managed as a historic relic during the Japanese colonial period, the tomb was collectively designated a historic site in 1963, and in 2011 it was separated from the Tomb of King Jinji and redesignated. King Munseong was the son of King Sinmu and reigned during Silla's period of decline; he suppressed the revolt of Jang Bogo, commander of Cheonghaejin, and established the Hyeolgujin garrison to strengthen control over regional powers, while also carrying out major repairs to Imhaejeon Pavilion. The mound has no retaining stones or offering table; a stone marker stands on its south side, with a heritage information board beneath it. The area around the mound is enclosed by pine trees.
