Uirimji Reservoir, one of Korea's representative ancient irrigation facilities, together with Jerim, the woodland on its embankment, and the surrounding pavilions and towers, combine to create a beautiful scene, making this a historic scenic spot. Uirimji, along with Byeokgolje Reservoir in Gimje and Susanje Reservoir in Miryang, is an irrigation facility of long history, recorded in the Samguk sagi, the Goryeosa, the Veritable Records of King Sejong, and the Sinjeung dongguk yeoji seungnam, an expanded edition of the Dongguk yeoji seungnam; it also appears in detail on Joseon-period maps such as the Yeojidoseo, the Map of Jecheon-hyeon, the Cheonggudo, and the Daedong yeojido. It is also one of eight scenic sites depicted in the Sagun gangsan samseon susseok, an album of paintings and calligraphy by the late-Joseon landscape painter Yi Bang-un, and it has long been a leading beauty spot of the Four Districts of Danyang: Cheongpung, Yeongchun, Danyang, and Jecheon. Jerim is a woodland of pine and willow planted on the embankment that protects Uirimji, sharing its history with the reservoir; today it consists mainly of fine old pines, growing alongside willows, firs, ginkgoes, and cherry trees. This is a traditional scenic spot of long history, where surrounding traditional landscape features — the pavilions Yeonghojeong and Gyeongholu, along with Yeonjaam, Yongbawi, Hongnyudong, and the site of Hongnyujeong — combine, giving it outstanding landscape and historical value.
