KOGL Type 4Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Chaemijeong is a pavilion built at the foot of Geumosan Mountain in the 44th year of King Yeongjo's reign (1768) by Min Baek-jong (1712–1781), the prefect of Seonsan, in consultation with local Confucian scholars, to commemorate the loyalty and scholarship of Gil Jae (pen name Ya-eun, 1353–1419), who withdrew into seclusion at the foot of Geumosan Mountain rather than serve two dynasties during the transition from Goryeo to Joseon. Chaemijeong is a site of outstanding scenic beauty, where the distant view of Geumosan Mountain and the clear mountain stream and trees in front harmonise beautifully with the garden.
