Yongchupokpo Falls in Simjin-dong, Hamyang is the defining scenic feature of Simjin-dong, one of the Anuisamdong — the "Three Valleys of Anui" — themselves regarded as the foremost dongcheon (a scenic retreat enclosed by mountains and streams) in all of Korea. It is said that a tour of the scenic sights of the Anuisamdong is only complete once one has visited Yongchupokpo, upstream in Simjin-dong, and among the many waterfalls in Korea that share the name "Yongchupokpo," this is the largest and most celebrated. The falls are about 15 m high, with a pool some 25 m across, set along a narrow valley on the upper reaches of the Jiucheon Stream; dense surrounding forest, a clear stream flowing over bare rock, the thunderous cascade dropping from the falls, and the deep pool beneath it together make this a celebrated scenic site. The Anuisamdong refers to the three places of outstanding scenery in the former county of Anui — Hwarimdong, Wonhakdong and Simjin-dong — regarded as the finest dongcheon in the Yeongnam region.
