설악산 수렴동·구곡담 계곡 일원 · 雪嶽山 水簾洞·九曲潭 溪谷 一圓

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSuryeomdonggyegok and Gugokdamgyegok are the representative valleys of Naeseorak, Inner Seoraksan. On the whole very gently sloping, they have a more natural feel and a quieter charm than nearby Baekdamgyegok, and their scenery is outstandingly beautiful. The valley's superb scenery, combined with autumn foliage, makes this route one of Seoraksan's finest paths for viewing autumn leaves, and countless pools and deep pools stretch along the valley to reveal a beautiful hidden landscape. The valley also offers fine views of waterfalls, including Ssangnyongpokpo, Gwaneumpokpo and Yongdampokpo Falls, along with plunge pools and rocky peaks. Old literary records concerning Suryeomdong include those of Kim Chang-heup (1653–1722) and Hong Tae-yu (1672–1715), who described the scenery of the Suryeomdong valley and its waterfalls as more beautiful than that of Mount Huangshan in China, adding to its value as a site of historical and cultural significance.
