구미 독동리 반송 · 龜尾 禿洞里 盤松

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBansong (multi-stem pine) is a type of pine whose trunk divides into many branches from the base, so that there is no distinction between trunk and branches, giving the whole tree an umbrella-like shape. The Multi-stem Pine of Dokdong-ri, Gumi is estimated to be about 400 years old; it stands 13.1 m tall with a girth of 2.9 m at the base of the trunk. Its trunk divides into many branches from below, spreading out like the ribs of a fan, in the typical form of a bansong. It is said to have been growing here since the Angang Noh clan first settled in the village. In 2023 part of the tree was damaged and toppled by Typhoon Khanun, but the fallen section has been raised back up and is being maintained. The Multi-stem Pine of Dokdong-ri, Gumi is one of the largest and oldest bansong trees in Korea, and its high value as biological material has led to its designation and protection as a natural monument.
